Fetish / African statue of a queen of the Kongo ethnic group from the DRC (formerly Zaire) in wood -
They serve as an intermediary between the world of the living and that of the ancestors or spirits.
A statue representing a queen or a high-ranking woman can symbolize:
- authority
- royal lineage
- fertility and the continuity of power
Wood is a living material, linked to nature. But the “power” of the object comes not only from the sculpture; it is activated by rituals, sacred substances (plants, powders, etc.), and the intervention of a spiritual specialist (nganga).
