Sunset guardians of the Savannah, a 2026 Italian limited-edition Giclée print by SSICK on 300 g/m² museum-quality A3 paper (42 x 29.7 cm), hand-signed, depicting Masai figures in a savannah.
Description from the seller
GICLEE PRINT ON MUSEUM-QUALITY PREMIUM PAPER A3, 29.7 x 42 cm, 300 g/m² IN A LIMITED EDITION OF ONLY 5 COPIES.
This fascinating Giclée print captures the essence of East Africa at twilight, rendered with an expressive style that imitates the tactile richness of oil paintings. The work is dominated by a spectacular, fiery sky, painted with bold strokes in tones of bright orange, golden yellow, and deep red. In the foreground, a majestic umbrella acacia tree rises, its dark, intricate silhouette standing against the lit sky, as if the paint had been applied in layers.
Three stylized Maasai figures, elegantly wrapped in their traditional bright red shuka robes, are centered, with their backs turned, as they gaze over the plain. Their contrasting red makes them an immediate focal point. In the background, a vast savanna stretches out, dotted with other acacia trees and a herd of wildebeest and zebras migrating across the plains, rendered with evocative, succinct brushwork. The lower part of the piece is defined by a dark ground rich with color touches, suggesting earth and grass. The print offers a tactile visual rendering of the original texture, while remaining a flat image, creating a sense of warmth, community, and reverent respect for the natural landscape.
Production method: The process unfolds from a conceptual exploration phase assisted by digital tools for visual brainstorming, culminating in a fully manual painterly draft. The artist then intervenes meticulously to define anatomy, apply proprietary textures, and consolidate their distinctive style.
