The film, shot mostly in Turin, is a sentimental comedy that tells the story of Carletto, an emigrant who returns to Italy from Argentina and ends up taking care of the child of a deceased woman he had married by proxy. Although the title recalls the famous Charlie Chaplin masterpiece of 1921, the plot and Macario’s style are distinctive.
