Description from the seller

Pair of monumental antique armchairs in Louis XIV style – approx. 1860

Elegant pair of antique armchairs in Louis XIV style, made from solid walnut. The chairs are distinguished by their richly hand-carved details, turned elements and traditional mortise-and-tenon joints, typical of artisanal furniture from the 19th century.

The subtle variations in the carving point to authentic handwork and give each chair a unique character. The upholstery was renewed in the past and fitted with modern foam filling for extra comfort. The decorative fabric is in neat condition and complements the classical character of the chairs.

Originating from a historic building in Stabroek (Belgium). According to local lore, the building is connected to the former inn “De Groene Swaen,” which was already mentioned in the region in the 17th century. This information is provided solely as historical context and not as a guarantee of provenance.

The chairs are in good antique condition with normal signs of use and aging appropriate for their age. Natural wear is visible at the bottom of the legs from years of use.

Over the years the solid walnut has developed a beautiful warm patina, which further enhances the authentic character and appearance of the chairs.

Sold as a pair.

A highly decorative ensemble, ideal for a classical interior, library, country decor, townhouse, or for lovers of antique furniture.

Everything is carefully protected for shipping.
Shipping to islands or destinations outside Europe is possible upon request.
