This round jewelry box is an example of Bohemian malachite glass. It is adorned with a dense, high-relief decoration of fruit clusters and leaves, characteristic of the Art Deco period and the interest in stylized natural forms. The deep green, translucent material is designed to mimic the appearance of natural malachite, a popular luxury material of the time. The piece demonstrates the high level of technical skill in the production of cast glass, which made Bohemian glass famous worldwide. Note the detailed rendering of the grapes and leaves, creating a tangible, three-dimensional surface. The lid fits seamlessly onto the base, preserving the continuity of the decorative frieze.
