Description from the seller
An urban icon in its mature stylistic phase. Official document and representation of the Vespa 50 Special in its final production stage, at the end of the 1970s. By then, the small Vespa was no longer just a juvenilе vehicle: it was part of the Italian and European cultural landscape, consolidated as a symbol of everyday freedom and timeless design.
The 50 Special of 1978 retained the essence that made it famous — steel monocoque body, compact dimensions and the characteristic square headlight — but incorporated small technical and finish evolutions typical of the era. Its aesthetic blended functional simplicity with an unmistakable character: clean lines, protective shield and that silhouette that seemed to float lightly among urban traffic.
Under the seat beat the classic two-stroke single-cylinder, 49 cc, air-cooled, associated with the manual transmission on the left grip. In these final versions, many units mounted a four-speed gearbox, offering a more elastic and city-friendly response. It wasn’t a machine of numbers, but of sensations: a high-pitched sound, mechanical vibration and a lightness that made every trip nimble and spontaneous.
In the midst of the late-70s cultural effervescence, the 50 Special became an inseparable companion for students, workers and youths seeking independence without renouncing style. It was economical, sturdy and easy to maintain, but above all it was a quiet declaration of identity: practical, modern and authentic.
Today, the Vespa 50 Special from the late 1970s is one of the versions most sought after by collectors and vintage culture enthusiasts. It represents the perfect balance between tradition and evolution within the Vespa universe: a small machine that encapsulates an entire era of simple mobility, Italian character and freedom on two wheels.
It comes with a black wooden frame and synthetic crystal. Very well wrapped and protected for trouble-free transport until you have it in your hands. The exterior measurements are 63 x 93 cm and 3 cm in depth.
Large-format print with gallery quality. Museum-grade cotton canvas paper, 340 g/m2.
FRAME INCLUDED, you will only have to hang it on the wall. Shipped in a wooden box to prevent any impact. See the photos.
We ship worldwide, very well protected via UPS/DHL/FedEx with insurance and up-to-date tracking from payment. You can visit our profile to see other beautiful Porsche items we have available!
