Description from the seller

The Fostex M11RP is a rare and highly respected Japanese studio microphone from the golden age of innovative analogue recording equipment. Manufactured by Fostex during the early 1980s, the M11RP used the company’s unique “Printed Ribbon” (RP) technology — a hybrid design intended to combine the warmth and smoothness of a traditional ribbon microphone with the durability and higher SPL handling of a dynamic microphone.

Designed as a unidirectional/cardioid studio microphone, the M11RP became known for its exceptionally natural midrange, smooth top-end response and ability to handle loud sound sources without the fragility normally associated with classic ribbon microphones. Its distinctive sonic character makes it especially desirable for vocals, brass instruments, guitar amplifiers and broadcast work.
Unlike conventional ribbon microphones, the Fostex RP system used an etched conductive pattern on an ultra-light diaphragm, allowing faster transient response and improved reliability. The result was a microphone with the warmth of vintage ribbon designs, but with the clarity and resilience needed for professional studio and live applications.
