The Exakta VX 500, produced by Ihagee in Dresden between 1969 and 1971, was introduced as a more accessible entry into the prestigious VX series. Despite being positioned as a simplified model, it retains the iconic trapezoidal body and the distinct left-handed operation that made Exakta a legend in SLR history. This model represents the final era of the classic Exakta design before the transition to the more modern RTL series, making it a key piece for collectors of East German photographic heritage and Dresden's precision engineering.
