The Voigtländer Vitoret Rapid D, produced in West Germany during the mid-1960s, is a specialized variant of the Vitoret family designed for the Agfa "Rapid" film system. This system was developed as a competitor to Kodak's Instamatic, utilizing a simplified drop-in cartridge loading method that eliminated the need for manual film threading. The Vitoret Rapid D is characterized by its high-quality all-metal construction and the inclusion of a built-in selenium light meter, making it a more advanced option in the Rapid camera market. It remains a fascinating piece of photographic history, representing the industry's attempt to make 35mm photography more accessible and user-friendly.
