Louis XVI style sugar shaker or ice spoon, with a sterling silver handle (950 fineness) and a gold-plated bowl, made in France by Henri Brille in the late 19th century, circa 1890, featuring a Minerva mark, dimensions 21 cm long, 5 cm wide, 1 cm high, and weighing 50 g.
Description from the seller
Sugar shaker or ice spoon with a silver handle, first title 950 ‰, Minerva punch, and the bowl in gold plate. Made in France during the second half of the 19th century, circa 1890.
This piece of silverware was crafted by Henri Brille, whose diamond-shaped master mark « H, lyre, B » is listed. The goldsmith was active at 59 rue Fontaine-au-Roi in Paris, then at 12 rue Debelleyme in Paris, at the end of the 19th century.
Very elegant Louis XVI style decoration: handle with fluted decoration adorned with a raised laurel garland. The end of the handle terminates in a medallion decorated with a frieze of pearls, scrolls and acanthus leaves. The pierced bowl features delicate geometric motifs. The entire piece is richly chased and hand-engraved with remarkable finishing work.
A fine collectible or display piece, bearing witness to the refinement of French Belle Époque silversmithing.
Excellent overall condition, almost like new, very well preserved.
