Description from the seller
Elegant Walnut Carved Column Display Cabinet - Renaissance Style
Captivating column display cabinet (stipo), crafted in solid walnut wood with fine workmanship. The piece stands out for its slender lines and the rich carved decoration running along the uprights and base, evoking the taste of Italian Neo-Renaissance.
Description and Details
The structure features a wide front glass door with glass sides as well, an ideal configuration to maximize internal luminosity and enhance collectible items, silverware, or rare books.
Carvings: The front uprights are decorated with foliage motifs and relief scrolls, executed with notable artisanal skill. The plinth-style base is embellished with a fluted (barley-twist) frame that lends solidity and prominence to the figure.
Interior: The inner back is exposed wood, offering a warm and elegant contrast with the glass. There are side supports (mortises) for inserting shelves.
Hardware: Original lock with an ornate brass escutcheon and a period key included and functional.
Condition
The piece presents in good overall condition, solid and structurally intact. As visible in the close-up photographs, it bears the normal signs of age that attest to its authenticity:
Light superficial scratches and small dings on the upper edges (see photos 0019/0020).
A small superficial loss on the top part of the door frame.
Interior lacks glass shelves (easy to order custom-made to suit one’s needs).
The inner bottom shows natural wood grain (photo 0017).
