Description from the seller
Elegant antique silver soup spoon from Amsterdam, crafted in the first half of the 19th century. This impressive spoon radiates the refinement and craftsmanship of Dutch silversmithing from the late Empire and early Biedermeier period. The graceful contouring of the handle, combined with the subtle fan-shaped ornament at the end, gives the piece a timeless and stately appearance. The silver marks tell a special story. The square master mark with “IV” above a “W” and a cloverleaf belongs to silversmith Jacob van Wijk Sr. from Amsterdam, active between 1819 and 1846. In addition, the year mark “B” from 1834 confirms the supposition that this beautiful soup spoon was indeed produced in the workshop of Jacob van Wijk Sr. Thus it is an authentic Dutch silver object from 1834.
