Description from the seller
Vintage sofa bed model “Tortuga”, produced by Beka and signed by designer Cesare Leonardi, one of the protagonists of Italian design in the 20th century. A piece of furniture with a strong aesthetic impact, inspired by the futuristic atmospheres of the Space Age, with sinuous shapes and a scenographic imprint typical of radical designs of the 1960s and 1970s.
The frame is made of white rigid resin with enveloping lines and integrated details that unite aesthetics and practicality. The armrests incorporate storage compartments and original side lighting points, operable via metallic buttons. The electrical system is present and functional.
The sofa is convertible into a bed, a feature that makes it versatile as well as particularly sought after by enthusiasts of mid-century modern design and designer works.
The seat and backrest are fitted with original cushions padded with capitonné tufting in dark gray, perfectly in line with the style of the era.
