Description from the seller
A highly desirable Mughal Qur'anic folio dated 1780, containing the final verses of the Meccan chapters 34, Shena (Saba), v.50-54, together with the Surah and first verse of the Meccan chapter 35, The Originator (Fatir). Verses 50-54 of Chapter 34 address the finality of truth, the personal responsibility of the Prophet Muhammad, the terror of disbelievers on the Day of Judgment, and the ultimate barrier between them and their desires. They deliver a strong warning about the consequences of rejecting the message, emphasizing the inevitability of the Day of Judgment. Verse 1 of chapter 35 establishes Allah as the unique Creator and Sustainer of the universe, setting the stage for the themes of Tawhid (oneness of God) and Resurrection.
It is written in naskh Arabic script over 11 lines together with the Surah of tchapter 35. The Surah scans across the page from the frame margins and is broke ended in tradiotnal arabesque style. Between the lines of scripture is Persian commentary in smaller red script: this was a device often used to make the Quran more understandable for those with a limited grasp of Araboc. There is full framed margins around the scripture ruled in colours and a thick band of gold, outside of which there is further decorative framing to the left margin. Multiple simple 'aya' in gold separate the individual verses.
