Description from the seller
A very scarce and rare Qur'anic manuscript page on strong handmade paper, scribed in Egypt and dated C1450. It contains the Surah and verses 1-4 of Chapter 15, Al-Hijr (The Stone Valley). This Meccan chapter serves as a profound, warning message to Arab deniers of the scripture. V1-4 specifically provide a comforting message to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) during a time of intense opposition and grief, while delivering a stern warning to those who reject the message. The key themes within these short, concise verses are: comfort for the Prophet: Allah consoles the Prophet during difficult times.; clarity of the Quran: It is not a confusing text but a guide. The Inevitability of judgment: disbelievers will regret their choices, and their punishment is set at a specific, unchangeable time. And finally, worldly delusion: warning against being distracted by fleeting pleasures and false hopes.
The script is written in black elegant Rayhani, especially popular with the Mamuk Sultans in Egypt. Gilded letters form the Surah. Diacritical marking in red provide devotional guidance. The Rayhani script, with characteristics in common with Nashki, Thuluth and Muhaqqaq, is notable for its treatment of diactricial marks and other orthographic signs which are always written with a finer pen than the characters of the script.
