Three illustrated books by Jeff Koons in a single lot, with English, Dutch and German texts, published between 1982 and 1992.
Description from the seller
Three exceptional and increasingly hard-to-find art publications on the work of Jeff Koons, one of the most influential and controversial artists in contemporary art. These catalogs document important exhibitions and collaborations from the late 1980s and early 1990s—the period in which Koons broke internationally with iconic series such as Banality, Made in Heaven, and his early vitrines and vacuum cleaner works.
The lot includes:
Jeff Koons — large retrospective catalog with dust jacket, including the well-known basketball-in-aquarium cover and images of early works such as the vacuum cleaner installations. Published to accompany exhibitions in the early 1990s.
Jeff Koons – Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (1992–1993) — exhibition catalog of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, held from 28 November 1992 to 3 January 1993. An important publication from the period around the famous Made in Heaven series.
Parkett – Collaborations: Jeff Koons / Martin Kippenberger — a rare edition of the influential Swiss art magazine Parkett featuring a collaboration between Jeff Koons and Martin Kippenberger. This magazine is regarded as an important document within the international art scene of the late 1980s.
The books contain extensive photography, essays, exhibition information, and documentation of works that today have iconic status within contemporary art. Especially interesting for collectors of postmodernism, pop art, conceptual art, and artists’ books.
Condition: The books are generally in neat vintage condition with signs of use appropriate to age and wear, including light edge wear and small imperfections visible in the photos. The Parkett copy shows noticeably more signs of wear on the spine and corners. See photos for a good impression of the condition.
A strongly collectible lot for lovers of contemporary art, artist publications, and museum catalogs from the key period of Jeff Koons’ career.
