Antique Architectural ornament - 1850-1900, 1900-1920

Pair of caryatids (or pilasters) in hand-carved wood, female figures sculpted to serve as a structural or decorative element, such as columns for furniture (such as sideboards or buffets), legs for console tables or decorations for walls and fireplaces.
The style is typical of the Haute Époque (17th-18th century), with similar examples often coming from Italy, France and Spain.
The figures bear a load on their heads and feature foliate or volute decorations on the lower part, with tails of marine animals ...a common characteristic of Baroque and Renaissance caryatids.
Dimensions are 36 cm in height, total weight about 2 kg.
In good condition with signs of age and wear.
