Icon - Voronyezsi Mirtofan - Wood

An original Russian Orthodox Icon from the 1700s-1800s, depicting Saint Mitrofan of Voronezh, a Russian church leader who lived in the 17th century. The icon was painted with tempera on wood, which was often prepared with a plaster base (levkas).The icon measures 11cm x 8cm x 1cm, and with the frame: 15cm x 18cm x 2cm.
The icon is in an ornate, beautiful carved and gilded wooden frame (small), which is a typical element of Russian icon art of the era.
