Persia – The Khatm-ul-Khwajagan, an illuminated Persian manuscript page from 1868 in Arabic, 19.5 by 10 cm, in very good condition.
Description from the seller
A beautifully illuminated Persian manuscript page scribed in red and black ‘nasta'liq’, in 1868. There is lavish use of gold decoration within the elaborate decorative heading and in the Chapter heading beneath this. The page is decorated with elaborate gold illumination (tazhib) in the borders and headers.
The header in red, states that this is The Khatm-ul-Khwajagan (or Khwajagan Status El-Baist), which is a central, highly revered, and "extremely potent" spiritual assembly and recitation formula practiced within the Naqshbandi Sufi order to attain the presence of the heart and spiritual progress. It is often performed congregationally, usually on Thursday or Friday nights, to seek divine help and spiritual development. The header in black is a traditional invocation "In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful'. This is known as the Basmala, it is recited before daily activities, prayer, and at the start of most Quranic chapters to invoke God's mercy and blessings, focusing intention on the Divine.
