Description from the seller

Elegant scalloped, curled fire striker with curved loops. A fire striker is an object that consists entirely of iron. It is designed to be used for making fire. It is strong, compact, and it can deliver solid blows against flint to, with the help of combustible materials, produce sparks that then start the fire. Two fingers are then inserted into the opening with the second joint of these fingers and placed against the underside of the fire striker. This provides the grip to perform the strikes. See the Metropolitan Museum 2010.180.2, online and on display in Gallery 307, for a nearly identical specimen, identified as German, 15th century.

Early Medieval C: 725 - 900 nC
Dating:
800-850
Object:
Fire striker
Material:
Iron

The quality suggests that this accessory was intended for a knight, probably of noble status, who hung a sword such as this. Forged iron, 8 cm long.

The seller guarantees that he is entitled to ship this lot. The seller will take care that any necessary permits will be arranged. The seller will inform the buyer about this if this takes more than a few days.
