Magnificent lapis lazuli bead necklace of the highest quality (7A) knotted individually by hand with an 18K yellow gold olive-shaped clasp.
Lapis lazuli has been cited as early as 2650 B.C. in the "Epic of Gilgamesh," the famous poem of ancient Mesopotamia. The ancient Egyptians, as well as Greeks and Romans, attributed divine power to this blue gemstone. It was used for religious ceremonies and as a personal ornament, whether as a talisman, amulet, or jewelry.
The necklace is a new, unworn piece; however, to assess its condition yourself, please examine the photographs carefully as they are part of the description.
