Description from the seller

Impressive frame made of carved wood, chased, stuccoed with plaster and gilded in fine gold, dating from the early 1900s. Scenically beautiful in appearance and form, its greatest merit is the multi-step modanato profile, carved, rich in chasing and the reticulated band.

The front features rich bas-relief decorations meticulously handmade by master artisans of the era, with phytomorphic motifs and scrolls at the corners and in the central areas, interspersed with ornamental chased elements. These decorations give the sense of seeing a splendid floral- and foliate intertwining with volutes that swirl around the corners of the frame and cascade in the central zones.
Suggestive the central band decorated with lattice or lozenges (also defined as "honeycomb").
The inner band is finished with red velvet (textile passe-partout), which creates an elegant color contrast with the gilding and enhances the brightness of the painting.
Refined the outermost stepped area, characterized by a braid engraving all around the frame.
The gilding shows a warm and homogeneous patina with slight signs of time and minimal wear at the most protruding points.
Frame of notable impact, a masterpiece capable of enriching and contextualizing important works, contributing significantly to their aesthetic presentation. Ideal for museums, galleries and apartments.
