AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Only very rarely do you come across gems, such as this very nice Chevrolet AE Indepence Six from 1931. The car is now 95 years old. It stood for a while, was then fitted with a new interior by a professional upholsterer, made drivable, and as for the paint, it is full of patina.

A real eye-catcher.

The engine is a 6-cylinder 3.2-liter inline engine, 46 bhp at 2600 rpm, with a very distinctive sound and ample pulling power. Due to its age, the car is exempt from APK and there is no road tax to be paid.

This Chevrolet was built according to the badge by General Motors in Copenhagen in 1931, and was sold by the local dealer Arild Jensen in Hillerød, Denmark. See below.

Documents:
The Chevrolet has a Dutch registration; if desired, for an additional 50 euros the car can be supplied with an EU export document so that a foreign buyer can easily register the car.

Technical:
The engine was rebuilt some years ago, and would benefit from a service now, checking the mechanics as with any used car is wise. A new battery has been installed, as well as a new drive belt for the radiator fan, and a coil. The car starts relatively easily, runs and shifts and steers well; the clutch vibrates a little, which is common in cars that have stood for a long time and tends to disappear with regular driving. It leaks a little oil and coolant, which was quite normal for such cars, perhaps good to keep an eye on. Tires and exhaust are good. The car was registered with the RDW a few weeks ago and technically approved.

Bodywork:
Further positives, such as the original nice color with plenty of patina, of course with a few small paint defects here and there. That is for the new owner to choose patina or gloss. The floor of the Chevrolet is very neat and good, the roof is original, and the chassis can easily last another 95 years because it is built very solidly.

Interior:
The interior has been completely renewed, the seat upholstery in very neat condition, as well as the rear seat and side panels, and the headlining is also very beautiful. The dashboard also looks very neat.

In short, a delightful pre-war classic, with a lot of presence, at an affordable price,

Transport:
The car is located in Hengevelde, Netherlands and can be picked up here. Transport is also possible, a surcharge of 150 euros excluding VAT, within the Netherlands (except the Wadden Islands).

The seller can have the car delivered relatively cheaply to the entire EU, this is no problem because transport is carried out by a professional carrier.

History: The history of Arild Jensen in Hillerød, Denmark, is closely linked to the early sale of General Motors (GM) vehicles, particularly Chevrolet.

Founding (1923): The company was founded in 1923 by Arild Jensen, a driving instructor in Hillerød. He started at Frederiksværksgade 7-9 selling Chevrolet and other brands under the General Motors umbrella. Historical dealer: Jensen was one of the early representatives of GM products in that region.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
