AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Rare 19th century Maltees Rococo style, hallmarked silver figural spicebox as a musicinstrument Judaica netafim besamim violin/cello 15cm tall novelty spicebox with a gilded interior.

The figural box is made in the form of a musicinstrument: violin/cello. The front of the musicinstrument is a hinged door with two pierced F holes. Because of the two open pierced F holes the violin/cello was designer to hold spice or potpourri.

The figural box has at the front fine repousse floral design.
At the back a cupido playing the flute under a tree with birds on a branch surrounded by Rococo floral motifs and roses.

Two hallmarks; a Maltese cross punch for Saverio Cannataci, he was registered as silversmith in 1806, I cannot identify the other silver mark.

Measures: 15 cm tall.
Condition: In good, used condition, has some wear, all wear is age&use related, see photos for overall condition.
