Description from the seller

French Provincial Writing Desk – 19th Century Solid Wood Table – Handcrafted with Authentic Patina

An authentic 19th century provincial writing desk, most likely originating from France, crafted in solid wood and retaining its original character and charm.

This piece clearly reflects traditional handcraftsmanship. The construction shows classic joinery techniques such as mortise-and-tenon connections, and the overall finish reveals subtle irregularities that are typical for handmade furniture of this period.

The legs, in particular, display slight asymmetry and are not perfectly uniform — a strong indication that they were shaped and finished by hand rather than machine-produced.

The tabletop consists of solid planks framed within a border, showing a naturally aged surface with a warm patina developed over time. Visible marks, small repairs and traces of use contribute to its authentic appearance and underline its age.

The desk features two functional drawers with traditional ring pulls, and stands on elegantly tapered legs. Its proportions make it highly versatile: suitable as a writing desk, console or decorative piece in both classic and modern interiors.

Unlike heavily restored pieces, this desk has preserved its honest, untouched character, which is increasingly sought after.

Dimensions
Width: 97 cm
Depth: 60 cm
Height: 74 cm

Condition
Good antique condition with visible signs of age and use. The surface shows wear, small imperfections and historical repairs consistent with its age. Structurally sound and stable.
