Created in 1939 by René Lalique, the vase « Bagatelle » is one of the most refined models of his late Art Deco period. It is molded in satin and transparent glass (often blue, sepia, or turquoise patinated depending on the piece) and adorned with a relief pattern combining flying birds and architectural foliage, in a natural yet orderly rhythm.

The motif is in relief over the entire cylindrical body of the vase, alternating satin surfaces and clear zones to enhance contrast and visual depth. The birds, stylized yet expressive, seem animated in an organic composition that evokes a suspended moment in nature.

The piece is signed ”Lalique France” engraved under the base, in accordance with pieces made before 1945. It is listed in Félix Marcilhac’s Catalogue Raisonné (Éditions de l’Amateur, Paris) under reference 10‑936, illustrated on the corresponding page.

Condition and authenticity
This exemplar presented is in excellent overall condition, with a micro-chip on the base edge that is tiny and barely visible once the vase is placed on its base. Lalique label on the neck.
