Description from the seller
This characterful antique armchair is crafted from solid oak and shows clear influences of the Renaissance Revival style, a movement that was especially popular in Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The chair features a richly carved back panel with a central ornament, flanked by turned uprights and crowned with a decorative finial. The armrests are elegantly curved and adorned with subtle carving, highlighting the artisanal character of the piece.
The seat is executed in the traditional woven rush seat, which is not only aesthetically appealing but also characteristic of chairs from this period. The joints and construction point to solid craftsmanship and durable build.
Such chairs were often manufactured in France, Belgium or the Netherlands and found their place in bourgeois interiors, where they were used both functionally and decoratively. This example fits perfectly within a classical, country or eclectic interior.
