Decorative ornament - China - Cricket cage

Antique Chinese cricket cage, late 19th century (Qing Dynasty), an object with a millennial tradition in Chinese culture, where these insects were valued both for their song and for fighting competitions.

Made with lacquered wooden rods, with a brass lid featuring copper-applied leaf ornamentation and an iron suspension chain. Functional front sliding-door system.
The top lid is finely engraved and finished with period nails.
