Description from the seller
JAPAN. 1 Sen. 1934. Hirohito (1926-1989)
- Value: 1 Sen.
- Reign: Hirohito (1926-1989).
- Year: 1934.
- Inscriptions: Obverse: 一錢. Reverse: 大日本 · 昭和九年.
- Grading: MS64 BN (NGC).
Bronze 1 Sen coin from the early Shōwa period, with a sober yet elegant design characteristic of Japanese minting in the 20th century. The obverse features the value “一錢” within a central field surrounded by stylized botanical ornamentation, while the reverse shows a symmetrical heraldic-floral motif accompanied by the imperial legend and the year in the Shōwa era. The specimen preserves a uniform brown tone (BN), with original mint luster well preserved in protected areas, sharp relief, and clean fields, displaying only slight contact marks typical of its high grade. A typical pre-World War II circulating piece, reflecting the aesthetics and discipline of Japanese coin design of the era.
