Description from the seller
Christofle – Sauce boat with plate in silver-plated – Luigi XV style – France, 19th century
Refined sauce boat with original plate in silver-plated, made by the prestigious Maison Christofle, a historic Parisian manufactory founded in 1830 and synonymous with excellence in French silverware.
The piece stands out for its elegant Luigi XV ( Rocaille ) design, with flowing profiles, shaped edges and rich decoration featuring shells, scrolls, and vegetal motifs, executed with great finesse.
The sauce boat is equipped with a double curved handle with a prominent central shell element, while the plate rests on three decorative feet, a typical solution of high-end silverware destined for aristocratic dining services.
On the body there is an engraved monogram, a testament to a private commission and an additional historically collectible point of interest.
The visible Christofle hallmark confirms the piece’s authenticity and quality of manufacture.
