Description from the seller
Large Scheurich “Fat Lava” Floor Vase – Model 407-35 – West Germany – 1970s
A striking and authentic West German “Fat Lava” floor vase produced by Scheurich Keramik during the 1960s–1970s.
This impressive piece features a classic and highly desirable drip glaze design, with rich caramel-brown tones flowing into a textured volcanic “lava” band over a light, speckled base. The contrast between the glossy upper glaze and the matte lower section creates a strong visual presence, typical of mid-century German studio ceramics.
The vase has an elegant, slightly tapered cylindrical form with a characteristic handle, making it both decorative and functional. It is a fine example of the iconic “Fat Lava” style that has become increasingly popular among collectors and interior designers.
The base is clearly marked:
“W. Germany” and model number 407-35, confirming its authenticity.
