Description from the seller
The Balda Baldaxette I is a German camera produced by Balda in the postwar years, belonging to a series of compact and foldable cameras widely used in Europe during the 1940s and 1950s. This model stands out for its elegant, classic design, with a metal frame, faux leather covering, and the distinctive collapsible bellows that allowed the camera to become more compact during transport.
The Baldaxette I generally used medium format film and offered completely manual operation, requiring the photographer to directly control shutter speeds, aperture, and focus. Like many cameras of the era, it was designed for slow, deliberate photography, where every shot was carefully prepared.
The optics mounted on these machines could vary depending on configuration, but were often valued for their soft and highly characteristic rendering, typical of European vintage photography. From an aesthetic point of view, the Baldaxette I still exerts a strong retro charm today, thanks to its mechanical finishes and the folding system that immediately evokes the great classic cameras of the twentieth century.
