Description from the seller
Offered is a rare and highly decorative piece of German scientific history: an Electrical Constant Temperature Bath, manufactured and certified in 1920 by the prestigious Physikalisch-Technische Reichsanstalt (PTR) in Berlin.
This heavy, museum-grade apparatus features a beautiful combination of patinated brass, original black industrial finish, and an elegant wooden-handled brass tap. The top plate is stamped with the official German Eagle (Reichsadler) and the PTR certification mark, including the serial/model number 736.
Technical Details:
Institution: Physikalisch-Technische Reichsanstalt (The world's first national metrology institute).
Date: 1920.
Materials: Brass, Steel, Glass, Wood.
Markings: "110 Volt / 6 Amp", "PTR 736 1920".
Features: Dual internal chambers, liquid level sight glass, drainage spigot, and original electrical terminals.
Condition: Superb authentic condition with a rich, uncleaned patina. Minor surface wear consistent with its 100+ year age. The glass tube is intact. A stunning centerpiece for any collection of scientific instruments, industrial design, or "steampunk" curiosities.
