Description from the seller
A fine manuscript from a generously sized Qur'an dating back to midC16th. It contains scripture from two consecutive Quranic chapters, 55 Al-Rahman (The Most Compassionate) closing verses and 56 Al-Waq'iah (The inevitable Event) opening verses. The final verses of 55 conclude with a profound description of Paradise, its gardens, and its beauties with a declaration of glorification and praise for Allah. The first verses of 56 describe the terrifying, unavoidable arrival of the Day of Judgment, its cataclysmic effects on the world, and the separation of humanity into three distinct categories based on their actions.
The folio is in 'nashki' in a fine hand with the scripture beautifully spaced and framed. There folio contains the Chapter heading in white thuluth within a gold rectangle, framed in red, blue and gold lines. Gold 'aya' mark the verses. There is a colourful floral 'juz' marginal on the left of the folio marking the 5th Juz of the Chapter 56. There are no devotional markings on the folio, so the devotee would have been well versed in the devotional aspects of reading the holy scripture. There is a relatively simple frame surround in red and gold markings, with an outer blue frame line.
The condition of this leaf is very good indeed and would frame beautifully.
