Important 17th / 18th Century Dutch Delft Tile Panel – Blue & White Faience with Figural & Animal Scenes – Mounted Frieze of 12 Antique Tiles

A rare and visually striking antique Dutch Delft tile panel comprising twelve hand-painted blue and white tin-glazed earthenware tiles, most likely dating from the late 17th to early 18th century.

Each tile is individually decorated in cobalt blue with traditional Dutch motifs including animals, pastoral figures and decorative corner ornaments. Subjects visible include a fox or dog in motion, seated cat-like creatures, livestock, birds, standing human figures and stylized rural imagery. The charming naïve execution and variation between tiles strongly indicate authentic period hand-painting rather than later transfer decoration.

Several tiles exhibit visible pitting, glaze losses and age-softened decoration consistent with genuine early Delft faience production. The deep cobalt blue pigment and decorative corner motifs closely resemble examples produced in Delft workshops during the late Baroque period.

The panel has been later mounted within a simple wooden frame for display while preserving the integrity and spacing of the original tiles.
