Description from the seller
Antique silver salad cutlery in solid Minerva 1 (950/1000) and noble wood – Original box – Late 19th century
Elegant antique set of salad cutlery, consisting of a spoon and a fork, presented in its original box.
The handles are made of high-purity solid silver (950/1000), certified by the prestigious Minerve 1 hallmark, and richly adorned with floral motifs and finely chased oval cartouches. The decoration is typical of French fine silverware from the late 19th – early 20th century, offering a striking presence and high-quality craftsmanship.
The functional parts are made of light noble wood, most likely boxwood, a traditional material used for salad cutlery to prevent oxidation of foods and for its great resistance. The wood is finely polished, with a beautiful warm, uniform patina.
The set is kept in its original black-grooved wooden box, lined inside with red velvet, providing an elegant and authentic presentation.
Decorative and functional piece, ideal for an antique silver collector or for a refined table setting.
Era: late 19th – early 20th century
Materials:
• Handles: solid silver 950/1000 (Minerve 1)
• Spoon and fork parts: noble wood (probably boxwood)
• Box: veneered wood, velvet interior
Condition:
Very good overall condition considering age.
The silver shows natural patina.
The wood is well preserved, with no cracks or missing parts visible.
Box with light signs of use consistent with its age.
