Plan de la ville de Trieste, an incised copperplate map published in Italy by E. e P. Artaria in 1831 for Nuovissima guida per i viaggiatori in Italia, showing Trieste during the Austrian period with hand-coloured details, sized 17 by 23.5 cm and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Ancient print with the plan of the city of Trieste in a small format published in Milan by Epimaco and Pasquale Artaria in 1831 inside the "Nuovissima guida per i viaggiatori in Italia", one of the famous guides printed in Italy by the Artaria firm aimed at the Grand Tour audience.
The map representation is the most suitable solution to highlight the sites, the buildings, and the famous squares of each city, listed in a legend that for Trieste includes 22 references in addition to the indication of depths in the port area.
Today the antique print with the map of the city of Trieste becomes a valuable document that testifies to urban development in the time of the Habsburgs when the city experienced its golden age.
The preservation is excellent; the sheet is crossed by two folds, necessary to close it inside the guide that was meant to be pocket-sized.
Accurate and prompt shipping in sturdy rigid cartons.
