Avedon 100 celebrates the enduring influence of Richard Avedon on photography and highlights his deep imprint on global visual culture.

Published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition at Gagosian in New York in 2023, this extraordinary illustrated catalog commemorates the photographer’s centenary. More than a hundred renowned artists, designers, musicians, writers, curators, and fashion personalities were invited to select a photograph by Avedon and to describe how both the image and the artist have influenced their lives. Among the participants are Hilton Als, Naomi Campbell, Elton John, Spike Lee, Sally Mann, Polly Mellen, Kate Moss, Chloë Sevigny, Taryn Simon, Christy Turlington, and Jonas Wood.

Avedon 100 celebrates Avedon’s lasting influence on photography and highlights his profound imprint on global visual culture. The book recounts various periods of his work, including the famous series “In the American West,” images from the movement for social justice, classic portraits, and advertising and fashion work. The reproduced photographs reveal the enormous and fascinating variety of Avedon’s subjects, while the commentary by renowned curators underscores the breadth and longevity of his legacy.

“Avedon 100” includes a foreword by Larry Gagosian, texts by Derek Blasberg and Jake Skeets, and an essay by Sarah Elizabeth Lewis.

In excellent condition, only a few small marks and a small red marker dot on one of the edges (all documented in the photos).
