Description from the seller

A fascinating pair of bookends made in Belgium around 1930 to 1940.

They are made of plaster and then finished with a bronze-colored patinated coating.

The left figure: An 18th-century scholar with a wig and glasses, sitting on a stack of books while he reads intently.
The right figure: A medieval-looking figure (often associated with an alchemist or philosopher) who caresses an owl, the symbol of wisdom.

They are in good condition, with some wear and aging marks that contribute to their authentic character.

Dimensions and weight:
Height 19.5 cm.
Width 11.5 cm.
Depth 14.5 cm.
Total weight 2820 grams

The bookends are well packed and sent by registered mail.
