Description from the seller
Welcome to certainly one of the highlights this year at Catawiki, regarding "signed art books"; originating, on the one hand, from the estate of Karl Geyers! An art collector from Jülich, who in almost 75 years accumulated about 100,000 drawings, autographs, art books and objects, and who befriended many artists, such as Gerhard Richter, Otto Piene, Janosch, Günther Uecker and many others!
And on the other hand from my private collection, which I was able to assemble over many years.
In this auction, 100 hand-signed and partly even painted art and photography books by international artists are being offered, for example by
- Gerhard Richter
- David Hockney
- Ellsworth Kelly
- Georg Baselitz
- Cornelia Schleime
- Wolfgang Tillmans
- Martin Eder
- Andreas Gursky
- Bridget Riley
- Wolfgang Mattheuer
- Bernhard Heisig
- Thomas Ruff
- Bernard Aubertin
- Anselm Kiefer
- Gunther Sachs
- Richard Long
and many more, with a starting minimum bid of euros 100.00.
Don't miss this extraordinary opportunity to obtain signed books by artists, some of whom are already deceased and possess legendary status!
Here we offer:
GEORG BASELITZ
(Deceased in the meantime, world-famous German painter, sculptor and graphic artist, who, shortly before his death, also took on Austrian citizenship in protest against the German "cultural policy". A world star and one of the most expensive and established living artists Germany has ever had!)
Very thick and extensively illustrated, rare publication, which deals with the extensive art collection of Georg Baselitz with the focus on "African Art".
Georg Baselitz granted in this travelling exhibition, which began on 07.06. until 24.08.2003 in the K20, Düsseldorf, and via the Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich from 25.09 until 16.11.2003 at the Haus der Kunst in Munich to the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz from 14.12.2003 - 22.02.2004, a view into which foreign-made art Georg Baselitz was drawn to, which he also partly tried to incorporate into his art.
This wonderful prestige volume with the exhibition and at the same time book title
