Elegant office inkpot in 800 silver and thick crystal glass, by Silviano Bardini of Florence, Italy, produced after 1968 with an octagonal base, airtight silver lid, and a metal sleeve serving as a pen stand, measuring 6 × 9.5 × 9.5 cm and weighing 203 g, in good condition with natural patina and a minor, barely visible chip on one crystal edge.
Description from the seller
Elegant, desk-mounted inkwell made of 800-finen silver and thick crystal glass, from the renowned Florentine goldsmith workshop Silvano Bernardi. The item was produced in Italy after 1968, as confirmed by a full official state hallmark struck on the silver, containing a modern assay mark in the shape of a diamond with a star, the artisan's number 987, and the symbol of the province FI indicating Florence. The object is distinguished by a classic, geometric design referencing the Art Deco style, with a characteristic octagonal base, a tight silver lid, and an integrated metal tube serving as a stable stand for a fountain pen or nib holder. The condition of the silver is very good, it is covered with a natural noble patina, which can be easily polished to a high gloss. A massive glass insert of pure crystal looks splendid and remains fully transparent, it has only a small, barely noticeable chip on one of the four side rims, which in no way affects stability or the overall, exceptional aesthetics of this luxury desk accessory. This authentic example of Tuscan goldsmithing from the second half of the 20th century makes an excellent proposition for collectors and a unique ornament for a stylish office.
