Description from the seller

Vintage Realistic LAB-400 Direct-Drive Fully Automatic Turntable (1978)
Introduction
Up for auction is a beautiful, highly sought-after Realistic LAB-400 direct-drive fully automatic turntable from 1978.
Originally marketed under RadioShack's premium audio line, this legendary deck was precision-crafted in Japan by the respected OEM manufacturer C.E.C.—the same factory responsible for producing high-end vintage players for brands like Marantz.
Renowned among vinyl collectors as a "hidden gem" of the silver-face era, the LAB-400 delivers absolute speed stability, a warm analog tone, and an iconic mid-century aesthetic.
Technical Specifications
Type: 2-speed, fully automatic record player
Drive System: Brushless DC servo direct-drive motor (no belts to wear down)
Platter: 308mm heavy die-cast aluminum alloy (1.4 kg)
Speeds: 33-1/3 and 45 RPM
Pitch Control: Variable electronic speed fine-tuning
Speed Monitoring: Built-in stroboscope ring illuminated by a bright neon lamp
Tonearm: Premium static-balance tubular S-shaped arm for optimal tracking and low distortion
Signal-to-Noise Ratio (Rumble): Better than 65dB (DIN-B)
Wow & Flutter: Exceptionally low at less than 0.035% WRMS
Dimensions: 450 (W) x 143 (H) x 355 (D) mm; Weight: 7.2 kg
Design & Features:
Walnut Wood Plinth: The heavy wooden chassis is finished in a rich, sharp walnut veneer. It adds a classic vintage elegance while dampening unwanted room resonances.
Fully Automatic Operation: Total convenience via push-button electronic start and stop mechanics, including automatic arm return and shutdown at the end of the record.
Independent Pitch Knobs: Separate adjustments for 33 and 45 RPM to dial in perfect playback pitch under the stroboscopic indicator.

This is a Realistic LAB-400 direct-drive turntable with a wooden base.
Features: Released in 1978, this fully automatic model features an S-shaped tonearm and a built-in stroboscope.
Drive System: It uses a 16-pole brushless DC servo motor for highly stable speed accuracy.
Cartridge needs to be replaced:
Recommended Cartridges
Audio-Technica AT-VM95E: This is the top budget-friendly choice. It delivers a crisp sound and allows for easy future stylus upgrades (such as Microlinear or Shibata) without changing the cartridge body.
Ortofon 2M Red: An excellent step up that offers an open, dynamic sound. Its weight and compliance perfectly match the medium-mass tonearm of the LAB-400.
