Fantastic pair (the figures are different on the two frames), decorative frames made of marble-dust powder in bas-relief.
Of Italian origin, from the late 19th / early 20th century.
The frame is wood covered with plaster and then gilded with aged gold leaf, the "sculptures" are made of compressed marble powder—an technique highly valued at the time and widely used in both Italy and England.
The frames are in overall good condition, structurally solid, showing small flaws typical for their long age; the figure sections are in excellent condition on both pieces.
