Voodoo Fetish - Benin

Fetish - Voodoo - Benin - 58 cm.

An old Voodoo fetish formed from a wooden sculpture of a seated figure on a bench covered with a thick sacrificial patina.
It is surrounded by cords holding horns, pieces of bone, a padlock, a large shell.
A long metal chain is fixed to the top of the head and another under the chest.
A wicker plate is also mounted on the chest of the figure.
Remnants of green color appear on the face.
This type of fetish provides protection for the home or the community. These are sacred objects.
The amount of material accumulated on its surface confers power to it.
This one is imposing and impressive. It is nevertheless in good condition despite its age.
