A 21-piece porcelain dinner service by A. Lanternier & Cie of Limoges, France, dating to circa 1920–1930, with a neoclassical laurel garland in cobalt blue gilt, including one serving plate (diameter 29 cm), one tureen (17 x 35 cm with handles, 22 cm), six flat plates (24.9 cm), six soup plates (24.9 cm), six dessert/appetizer plates (22.6 cm), and one gravy boat (8.3 x 23.9 x 16 cm), all in used condition with minor wear on the decoration border.
Description from the seller
This French tableware service was made by A. Lanternier & Cie in Limoges, renowned for producing some of the finest porcelain of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The mark visible on the back dates this service to around 1920–1930, a period when Lanternier was famous for the refinement and durability of tableware. The set comprises:
1 serving plate, diameter 29 cm
1 soup tureen, 17 cm high x 35 cm (with handles) x 22 cm
6 flat plates, diameter 24.9 cm
6 deep plates, diameter 24.9 cm
6 dessert or appetizer plates, diameter 22.6 cm
1 sauce boat, height 8.3 cm x 23.9 cm x 16 cm
Each piece features a 'laurel wreath' motif. This specific decoration, a cobalt blue band gilded with laurel leaves in a wreath, is typical of Neoclassical design, reflecting Limoges craftsmanship. Condition: wear on the edge of the decoration due to use over time.
