Mercedes-Benz W115 220 from 1972.
Description from the seller
GENERAL:
Special “time capsule” Mercedes-Benz W115 220 with a fully documented history. This honest and unspoiled classic offers a rare combination of originality, provenance and careful maintenance. For the enthusiast who is looking for an authentic Mercedes with a story, this is an exceptional specimen.
HISTORY:
This Mercedes was originally delivered new in Germany and later exported to the dry state of Oregon (USA). The car has been in the hands of only two owners there. The last owner has cherished and excellently maintained the car for decades. As a precaution, he recently had the engine rebuilt, purely out of care for the technology and not due to defects. The complete maintenance history, including invoices from new, is with the car.
BODYWORK & PAINT:
Thanks to the dry climate in Oregon, the body is in exceptionally good and completely rust-free condition. The underside is clean and dry as well. The chrome work is in very nice condition and contributes to the classic appearance of the car. The car sits on new tires with a classic white-wall appearance, which completes the time period look.
TECHNICAL:
The car is equipped with a four-cylinder gasoline engine and is technically in very good condition. The recently rebuilt engine runs smoothly and the car drives and shifts as it should. Everything indicates careful and consistent maintenance over the years. Despite the excellent functioning, the car has been driven little in recent years, so an inspection before intensive use is recommended.
INTERIOR:
The interior is fully original and in particularly neat condition. The iconic ivory-colored steering wheel and the original Becker radio give the car an authentic atmosphere that fully matches the period in which it was built. Also under the hood and in the trunk area the car is notably well cared for.
DOCUMENTATION:
The car is delivered with an exceptionally extensive documentation package, including the full maintenance history from new and all associated invoices. The car is also equipped with an American title. All import duties and VAT have already been paid, which simplifies registration within Europe.
OTHER INFORMATION:
This is a classic vehicle from before 1996, which means a COC document is not required for registration within Europe. As with any classic, there can always be minor points for improvement. We strive to describe our vehicles as honestly as possible and always recommend a viewing for serious interest.
PICKUP:
The car can be viewed and possibly picked up in Damwoude, the Netherlands. Transport across Europe can be arranged in consultation.
A rare original and fully documented W115 “time capsule” – a tangible piece of Mercedes history for the true enthusiast or collector.

Request help with registration from a third-party service provider.Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
