Elegant headboard made of wrought iron and gilt brass, following the Modernist style, manufactured in Spain in the 1930s.
It features a rectangular frame formed by vertical bars curved in the lower third, of which the central ones rise from a lower decoration in a mushroom shape flanked by sinuous lines, very much in the Modernist style. The upper part, in gilt brass, also displays highly decorative curved lines, in addition to a small central column that crowns the headboard beneath the straight frames of the top section.
Includes attachments to grip the bed frame and the wall to secure it firmly.
About Modernism
Modernism, known in France and Belgium as Art Nouveau, is the term used to designate a movement of artistic renewal that took place from the late 19th to the early 20th century in Spain. Its main aim was to create a young and new art, freer and more modern, a break with the prevailing academicism of the time. To achieve this, it was based on inspiration from nature, but also incorporated the innovations brought by the Industrial Revolution, especially new materials and techniques (steel, glass…). All of this is summarized by a statement that could be understood as the movement’s motto: the awareness that “the future has already begun.”
