Decorative ornament - Italy - Mortaretto - Mascolo

Italy. Period: 18th/19th century
Bombarda - Mascolo in iron casting.
Decorative ornament. Collectible item. Original period piece that has never been restored. As shown in the photo.
On the central part, just above the lower hole, the letters F A can be read, very probably the initials of the parish or the noble family who commissioned it at the time.
It was used for religious celebrations or other important occasions, loaded with gunpowder and sealed with wood, it was ignited via a small hole in the lower part.
Measurements: about 12 cm high, base diameter 5.5 cm, muzzle (bore) diameter 2.5 cm
