Dogon Doors are made of wood and are richly carved with geometric motifs, representations of animals and other symbols that have deep cultural and spiritual significance for the Dogons. These motifs may represent elements of their cosmology, ancestors, or important myths in their culture.

The Dogons are a people of Mali, in West Africa.

They inhabit the region known as Dogon Country, which stretches from the Bandiagara Escarpment to the southwest bend of the Niger loop. Other Dogons are settled in northern Burkina Faso and in Côte d’Ivoire.

The Dogons are farmers of millet essentially, as well as maize and peanuts.
