Excellent condition.
Extensively illustrated. (see photos)
The Memphis Group was a group of interior designers from the years 1981-1987, founded by Ettore Sottsass. The group opposed the strict functional rules of modernism, and their ideas would leave a significant mark on the look of the eighties. The style is associated with postmodernism and drew its inspiration from pop art and Art Deco.
The Memphis Group worked innovatively and challenged mainstream design. Their designs are characterized by the illogical combination of geometric shapes, bold colors and various patterns mixed together. From this came products such as the Casablanca and the Carlton cabinet.
A number of notable participants besides Ettore Sottsass were: Michele de Lucchi, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Shiro Kuramata, George Sowden, Martine Bedin, Matteo Thun, Aldo Cibic and Peter Shire,
Carefully packed with tracking and insured shipping.
